Once the moon has revealed herself fully, she then begins to withdraw her light from us, hiding more and more of herself behind the dark veil of the night sky. For the goddess on earth (that's you!) this indicates a time of preparation for when you will go within, seek your own inner counsel and become as still as the upcoming dark moon.
Perhaps you are hearing the faint but insistent call for rest, privacy, introspection, solitude and tranquility. If so, know that you are in alignment with Monday's moon, which is called the 'waning gibbous' in astronomy and astrology, and the 'disseminating moon' in magical workings. The word disseminating means to spread or disburse, as if to scatter, or sow seeds. Imagine that the new moon is like a rosebud, the full moon a rose in full bloom and the disseminating moon the time when the rose petals are falling away, one by one to reveal the once hidden rose hip, the fruit and most potent part of the flower.
During the new moon last month, whatever conscious or unconscious wishes and intentions you set for yourself were put into motion once the full moon lit up the sky last week. Now, as her light wanes, or diminishes, the energy of your wishes and intentions are no longer gaining momentum, no longer making their way upwards towards the heavens and the cosmic above...but rather they were set free, and were let loose on the full moon, and now start their exhilarating descent down to earth where they can become manifest.
This lunar phase has a shadow side to it, as most waning phases do. It calls to our inner consciousness, the deeper part of us where fear of the unknown and the illusions that you have about yourself resides. Waning moons shine just enough light, and reveal just enough shadow to start the process of letting go and releasing of our fears. During this phase you have an opportunity to shed your worries like the petals of the lunar rose. Set free your anxieties and your doubts about whatever it is that you want in life and from life. Just as the moon is beginning to shed her light and reveal her darkest, most mysterious, hidden and potent aspects, now you can allow your own light to begin its journey of going deep within, begin now to seek your own mysteries, revealing your own, secret, potent inner power.

LUNAR ASPECTS A time of 'banishing', continue any releasing and letting go that started on the full moon. No planning, no seeking and no starting of projects at this time. If you must start something during this moon, know that it will bring great personal challenges and ask for much inner releasing before you can accomplish the task.
LUNAR GODDESSES The waning phases are a time to call upon the 'dark' goddesses such as the ancient Greek goddess, Kore (also called Persephone) for transformation and cycles. Kore was abducted by Hades and made to live in the underworld. She is very helpful when working with your own underworld issues of fear, mystery and hiddenness. Work with the ancient Egyptian cat goddess Bastet for deepening your feelings of sensuality and beauty. Bastet helps you to reveal your low self-esteem issues, and to raise your power, beauty and self-worth.
LUNAR MAGIC Light a black candle when you can see the disseminating moon in the night sky, place it in a dish of white sea salt. Write what you wish to release on a piece of paper. Recite each thing on your paper out loud, adding this at the end: 'I choose to release this now and forever'. When you are done, light your paper with the candle and let burn in a metal pot and scatter ashes - not embers on the wind (please practice fire safety). Let your candle burn down, if possible. If not, wet your fingers and dampen it out so you can use it again another time.
LUNAR HERBS & OILS Sage, basil and lemon balm are associated with Pisces, the sign that sets the tone of this week. Burn white sage leaves to purify your energetic field and lighten your spirit. Drink basil leaf tea for clarity and use lemon balm essential oil mixed with jojoba oil in a bath before bed to induce relaxation and peaceful sleep. (up to 20-30 drops of essential oil per 1 ounce of jojoba oil)
LUNAR BUSINESS Expect spending more than earning during this phase, as it is a time of releasing. Also a wonderful time to let go of partners, ideas, habits, clients and customers who are no longer serving your business ideal. If you are an employer, do not be alarmed if an employee gives notice, another one is on the way to take her place.
LUNAR BEAUTY All waning phases are wonderful for releasing/detoxing and letting go of false body images. Schedule hair dye and waxing appointment now, as hair grows slower at this time. Also good for this phase is restorative, 'yin' yoga.
LUNAR LOVE All this releasing energy may inspire deep conversations and ceremony-like intimacy with your beloved. It may also bring deep seated fears and worries up to the surface. Stay present. Be courageous and allow this cleansing to take place. If you are single, do not look for a new relationship at this time, instead focus on yourself, taking time for self-love.
LUNAR CREATIVITY Not a time for starting creative endeavors, this is a time for researching, planning and observing. Ideas and inspiration may be very active now, but take notes and journal your ideas, rather than executing them for now.
LUNAR ABUNDANCE “Poverty is scattered attention. It is a matter of attentional disorder” - Dr. Pillai. Focus now on releasing all that is in your way to reveal all that is available to you. The most treasured treasures are never on the surface, but found when one digs deep, deep down to find them.
LUNAR AFFIRMATION I release all that I can, all that I am able to, in order to reveal my innermost loveliness, my innermost power and my innermost strengths. I release old beliefs, negative emotions, guilt and shame, fears and worries, past traumas and any unforgiveness that I am holding on to. By doing these things, I am made stronger, more powerful and more beautiful.
As always, I am wishing you Goddess blessings and lunar light!
